Filmfest Eberswalde
Filmfest Eberswalde
The small town of Eberswalde held annually for four years, a film festival, will be shown at the short and documentary films from around the world. I could not, of course I miss it so I was last Thursday evening with my roommate and two other girls in the Eberswalde Paul-Wunderlich-Haus. There, a not-too-large group of film fans had gathered, including, unfortunately, surprisingly few students. In
20.00 clock block six films were shown. The short description I want to reflect briefly
Block 9 - Thursday, 10.11.2007, 20:00 clock
My little boy R: Matt from Schemm, Dtld, short film, 20 min, summer '34.. Eric fell in love with Wolfgang, who is with the SA. They meet secretly one morning and be surprised.
GABRA2 R:. Jan Karpinski, Dtld, short film, 11 min, Ole is being harassed by a pharmaceutical company because it was a patented gene possesses. Surgery or license fees?
tradition R:. Ladkani Peter, Dtld, short film, 9 min A small oriental boy and his sister are trapped in ancient traditions. Both will receive a gift - with fatal consequences.
Video3000 R:. J. Edelmann, Dtld, animation, 5 min He is thrilled about its new "Video 3000". Only the remote spins.
Recognize myself R: Eva-Marie Elg, UK, short film, 19 min, Oteng A man is trapped in his memories, unable to deal with the rigidity of the present.
The black column R: Andreas Schaap, Germany, short film, 18 min The making of a fictional German comic book adaptation.
I must say I was again amazed at how much content can you put in 5 to 20 minutes movie. So much emotion, excitement, wit and depth in many 120-minute film can not be found. Short films are like poetry, so I thought especially in the film "Recognize Myself", a British competition entry, which is about a young man who is trapped in his memories and feelings, not even himself knows and seems unable to . live At the center of the strip his relationship with his girlfriend whom he loves but he is not with his problems and his own inability to be life stresses of life, like. He became separated from her, even though they love each other. A very sad and thoughtful film.
were as thoughtful least, My little boy 'and' tradition '. While the viewer has the first film that actually end from the beginning the only possible end in mind was 'tradition' in this respect is absolutely shocking. I want to say now no longer, but if anyone should have the opportunity to see one of these films.
The other contributions were more oblique. Actually, I can also tell nothing much to see that on a short film does not so real.
"Video 3000" is a very funny animation movie that you can watch it too, namely here.
"Gabra 2" humor of the blackest kind, very macabre. And "The black column" ... well, this film probably split the mind. As, the media satire "satirizes" The black column "once the current widespread, Making-Of" widget Strip, which made film, actors, shooting and action on sensational way to the last detail scrutinized and praised to the skies be. I have rarely laughed so much, but many were not at all on this post. Thus, for just arguing about art. In each
Case, it was an entertaining evening. Unfortunately, it gets much too rare opportunity to see short films.

How To Clean My Emu Boots
Audiobook Review - "Burnt by Andreas Eschbach"
belongings from my brother borrowed a great audio book, "Burnt Out" by Andreas Eschbach, which - as I have just read - is available only this year.
I had heard "a trillion dollars" for radio and read the short story "A Trillion €" from the same author and was now curious to see what was waiting for me.
The story picks up a hot topic, namely the scarcity of oil resources. Eschbach records in his scientific thriller a picture of the end of the oil age, how could it not come suddenly. The plausibility the scientific background with which the author explains the sudden shortage of oil are, I can not judge, it is clear, however, that he the many aspects associated with this scenario in exciting activities frame takes up and discussed. Alternative energy, heat insulation of houses, energy saving, return to local shopping and carpooling are just a few variants, which react with the people in the new situation.
come to conspiracy theories, crime stories and even scientific theories about 'oil'.
is also interesting that the reader or listener an insight into the Arab world, because Saudi Arabia, which lives off oil, is a convenient stage of history. As far as I correctly remember the stories my brother, everyday life in the Saudi Kingdom is also described quite accurately, owing in part to be quite shocking.
The plot tells the story of Mark Westermann, a young economist from Germany, which he is to bring as Marc S. Westman in the United States from the small office worker to a millionaire. And with the OPI and OPM: Other Peoples Ideas and Other Peoples Money. Markus Westermann finds both, but that his problems really begin until an ...
I liked the audio book is very good. Like all stories of this kind would I am not, however, work through the book. "Burnout" is entertaining and exciting, excited, in fact - would like the author according to own statements purpose too - to reflect on the problem at.

Afghanistan - strange world
early on Saturday after meeting with
Theriak I passed by the Paul-Loebe house. The Paul Loebe house is one of the houses of parliament in Berlin, where deputies and committee offices, and meeting rooms are located. It is adjacent to the Reichstag building and a stone's throw across the river Spree from new main train station. Through the large glass facade can be seen in the basement of the building stunning photos from Afghanistan, but unfortunately the house was closed on Saturday.
Yesterday, I am purely by chance came by - I had just missed my train to Eberswalde - and lo and behold: the house was open, the issue still to be considered for exactly one day and I had my identity card there. "The more you need in Berlin", the security officer did the two less fortunate to report from me, who could identify not.
But I was in the middle of Berlin a short traveling to the Hindu Kush, in this amazing landscape of high mountains and deep Gorges, vast, empty plains and in narrow valleys compressive villages and towns.
The exhibition's theme was "The Bundeswehr in a different world - Pictures of Afghanistan" and so has not failed to mention providing what services the armed forces and the ISAF forces: medical aid, reconstruction of villages, schools, water supply, education .
But the more intriguing were the unique landscapes and large portraits of men, women and children.
Pictures of New Year 'Nau-Roz', which is celebrated in March, and the wild riders Buzkashi game are shown in which the riders - the group can be as large - try a dead goat on the huge field to pick up in the desert and taken before the judges. Rapidly!
The exhibition was truly a unique experience. Unfortunately, today is the last day. So I was really lucky.
Who wants to see pictures can take a look at the press of the Historical Museum of Speyer a zip file (at the bottom of the page, 7 MB) with pictures of the photographer Helmut Schulze. It's not all pictures in the exhibition, my favorites are also present, but the images are still fascinating, for example equal to the first "Blue Lakes". Perhaps the images are
yes but also once again shown elsewhere. Worth a visit this exhibition for sure! Yet another

Book Review - "Devices and Desires by PD James
P. D. James crime novel… This one I found at the Lions Club Book Bazaar in Mainz, and even though I still have more than an overcrowded bookshelf of books waiting to be read I just couldn’t resist. It was worth it!
“Devices and Desires” is one of P. D. James’ earlier novels. It was published in 1989. Sometimes I had the feeling that this fact is noticeable while reading the book, her style developed since then, I guess.
“Devices and Desires” is set on the Norfolk coast, on a fictitious headland called Larksoken. Here Commander Adam Dalgliesh retreats to the old mill of his deceased aunt, just after having published his second volume of poetry. At that time Norfolk is haunted by the Norfolk Whistler, a serial killer who murders young women at night. It is during a stroll at the beach that Adam Dalgliesh finds the body of yet another strangled woman with an L cut into her forehead. Hilary Robarts, Acting Administrative Officer of Larksoken Nuclear Power Station, seems to be the Whistler’s latest and last victim. But is she?
In this novel Adam Dalgliesh is not the investigating officer but a witness, therefore the point of view is constantly changing between various persons, almost all of them possible suspects with a variety of potential motives for murdering the unpopular Hilary Robarts.
As always I loved the way P. D. James manages to throw light on aspects of social interaction between men as well as on current socio-political topics. "Devices and Desires" is a good reading matter, not extremely thrilling but entertaining enough. I'll offer it
as a book ring. If you'd like to participate, please tell me or via PM in the German BookCrossing Forum

Kates Playground Yellow Set
Moved
is finally done it: I am moved. In a cloak-and-dagger operation Henning and I have a car full of stuff back down to 733 km from Mainz to Eberswalde and it organizes a tour d'Allemagne: Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Giessen, Bad Hersfeld, Eisenach, Erfurt, Jena, Gera, Leipzig, Dessau, Wittenberg, and then in a wide circle around Berlin.
12 hours and I have used Henning, three more or less long naps, to much coffee, biscuits and breads. At dawn had reached Berlin in time for the lease was signed we were in Eberswalde. Without Henning I could not have done the ride, but we're a top team!
And now I'm so in Eberswalde. Here I live in a flat with two 3 Erstis: forestry and business management. We are totally ne nice group and now is our WG also become quite comfortable. By bus it's about 15 minutes to the university, but in summer you can ride your bike through the beautiful forest.
I finally have Internet access can now begin my online life again, but here is the pork expensive at the FH in the hostel for university relations, and so I have to see how far I get.
Tomorrow is first holiday. Berlin is close ... maybe it's me verschlägt still in the capital.
Greetings from Eberswalde!
